This is easily Maria's most iconic dress. In an effort to add new excitement to the tournament attire, Nike offered Maria a special dress for her night matches. The inspiration was an athletic version of a LBD. The details are reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn in "Breakfast at Tiffany's". She won the Grand Slam title that year.

We came up with the concept of a special “night match” outfit for Maria for the Us Open GrandSlam tournaments in 2006. The story was based around NY and the notion of a LBD (Little black dress). This design was inspired by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s… a NYC classic and most iconic little black dress. The dress was then engineered for true tennis performance and the right amount of eye candy for one of the biggest stages in tennis.
Maria went on to win the tournament.

We complemented the iconic orange clay of the Roland Garros courts with different shades and brightnesses of blue. Working on the bias and with diagonal lines allows for fabric to move away from your body and opposite of direction of motion. It is also visually a very flattering graphic and complements Maria’s height.

The traditionally all white GrandSlam at Wimbledon inspired us to create with textures, shapes and accents of cream. The main body of the dress is fabricated with light weight, high performance dry fit textile. The detail of her dress and warm up jacket are regal and feminine.

Maria’s warm-up jacket was a fun play on an english tradition of palace guard uniforms.

Maria's logo was created at a time where she decided to fully take her career in to her own hands, not having her father on tour with her. The logo shows speed, motion, change, letters intertwined and yet standing on their own. Within all there is always a feminine touch. Her mental strength and discipline stand alongside her feminine side. You get the full package.
